Hello! Lambda Chi’s alumnae are introducing Project 1971 to celebrate 100 years of sisterhood and 50 years of Alpha love at LaGrange College.

On May 15, 1971, the Lambda Chi chapter of Alpha Omicron Pi was founded on the fiftieth anniversary of the local sorority, Alpha Phi Beta. In May of 2021, ?X will mark 50 years at LaGrange College on the 100 year anniversary of the local sisterhood. In honor of these extraordinary milestones, a group of alumnae comprised of sisters from several Lambda Chi pledge classes, local alumnae from other chapters, and the current AAC would like to present the Lambda Chi chapter with a gift to honor her history and plan for her future. It is our desire to purchase a section of flat file drawers to store the chapter’s composites and “upcycle” it to be used as a coffee table or seating in the chapter house. As you know, the chapter is custodian to nearly 50 years worth of composites, without adequate space to store them.  The current options are to prop them in the limited storage space of the chapter house or to donate them to the college archives. We, as alumnae, would like to make sure that our shared history is safely and properly preserved. Then, years from now, when you return for Homecoming or May Day or bring your daughter to LaGrange for her college visit, your composite will be there waiting for you. Additionally, we would like to supply the archival materials used for storage and to provide an anniversary reception for alumnae and active sisters when the gift is presented.

The Project 1971 committee is inviting all interested alumnae to become a part of this endeavor by asking that each sister make a gift of $19.71 or more to the 1971 Fund.  We would very much like to extend this invitation to our active sisters as well.  We well remember how tight money was during our college years. Let us stress - If you choose to contribute less or if you cannot donate at this time, we will most certainly understand.
